College Magazine: Analysis

In this post I will be analysing my college magazine front cover and contents page.

Firstly I think that my front cover was more of a success compared to my contents page, this is because I feel it looks like a typical college magazine and I feel it came together very well, however I feel as if my contents page was rushed and I could have done a lot better.

One good thing about my front cover is that the masthead is clearly shown in the top left corner which makes it easy for the audience to see when pulling the magazine of a shelf. Also I included cover lines which gives the audience an indication of what is going to be inside the magazine so they can decide if they would enjoy this genre of magazine. Another good thing was I included a date and a price clearly in the top right corner which is a good edition as the audience know when the magazine is released and how much they will need to pay. However a bad thing which I included in my front cover was the quality of the main image, as seen on the front cover the image is blurry. This could be bad for the magazine as the audience may not want to purchase the magazine as the main image is blurry and they may think that the magazine won’t have much quality. So next time I make a front cover I will use a camera of higher quality to get the best possible image.

In the contents page what I feel went well was the colours match the with the front cover which shows that the magazine is consistent throughout also the font was consistent throughout the magazine which make the magazine look better as it matches and comes together which is typical of a magazine. Another thing I felt went well is the information found of the contents page clearly indicates what you can find on each page of the magazine also contact information was son my contents page and where you can find the school. However what I think went bad was, again the pictures used had low quality so next time I know to use a camera of higher quality, also there were gaps throughout my contents page which show that many adverts where used which the audience might not be too keen on and get annoyed about. Overall I fell the front cover and contents page went well.
