College Magazine: Analysis

Evaluation

In this post I will be analysing my college magazine front cover and contents page.
Firstly I think that my front cover was more of a success compared to my contents page, this is because I feel it looks like a typical college magazine and I feel it came together very well, however I feel as if my contents page was rushed and I could have done a lot better.
One good thing about my front cover is that the masthead is clearly shown in the top left corner which makes it easy for the audience to see when pulling the magazine of a shelf. Also I included cover lines which gives the audience an indication of what is going to be inside the magazine so they can decide if they would enjoy this genre of magazine. Another good thing was I included a date and a price clearly in the top right corner which is a good edition as the audience know when the magazine is released and how much they will need to pay. However a bad thing which I included in my front cover was the quality of the main image, as seen on the front cover the image is blurry. This could be bad for the magazine as the audience may not want to purchase the magazine as the main image is blurry and they may think that the magazine won’t have much quality. So next time I make a front cover I will use a camera of higher quality to get the best possible image.

In the contents page what I feel went well was the colours match the with the front cover which shows that the magazine is consistent throughout also the font was consistent throughout the magazine which make the magazine look better as it matches and comes together which is typical of a magazine. Another thing I felt went well is the information found of the contents page clearly indicates what you can find on each page of the magazine also contact information was son my contents page and where you can find the school. However what I think went bad was, again the pictures used had low quality so next time I know to use a camera of higher quality, also there were gaps throughout my contents page which show that many adverts where used which the audience might not be too keen on and get annoyed about. Overall I fell the front cover and contents page went well.

College Magazine: Final Contents Page

This is the finished copy of my contents page. It has the same background colour of my front cover therefore they match also I included space for adverts and included pictures that relate to this college. Finally the same font is used throughout the magazine.

College Magazine: Final Front Cover

This is the finished version of my front cover, it contain a masthead, cover lines, a barcode and a main image. The orange background links to the top of the student and the grey date and price tag is the same colour of the student's jacket therefore a colour scheme is include in the final front cover. The colours used are very different therefore the words are easy to read.

Analysis Of DPS (2)

Header: The header is clear and attractive to the reader as it is located in the top left easy for the reader to read is also links to the main star as his name is included. Therefore is makes it easy for readers to notice that this article is about Myles Sanko
Colour scheme: The colours throughout have matches this make the DPS look nice and appealing to the reader. People want to read good looking stuff and this DPS would appeal to the reader
Information: There is information in the bottom right of the DPS, this helps the audience know when he is preforming so they can watch him perform.
Quotes: These are located in some spaces around the DPS, these grab you attention as they are bigger than the rest of the text which help them stand out. These quotes could have been used to help the reader get an understanding of Myles Sanko's personality and what he is like as a person

Medium shots: These medium shots also take your attention away from the text as Sanko looks well conducted and professional in them

Analysis Of Contents Page (2)

General: The Contents page usually give us information about the star and what pages you need to read, also located in the bottom right the audience can use websites to find out more if they are unsure of anything.
Font consistency: The font used throughout is the quite similar this makes the contents page look really nice which is essential to a music magazine as it will appeal to the audience which could increase sales.
